Warehouse store

BJ's is another warehouse store, not unlike Costco and Sam's, that sells bulk merchandise for cheap. It is very practical to have a membership if you have an organization that needs snacks/drinks such as a church or sports team, but I don't see the savings for those buying for their household (unless you have 10 kids ;)). BUT if you are buying for your organization and see something you want for your household, the membership makes sense. BJ's is about $100 to get a membership and $50+ to renew (more than Sam's or Costco) and I don't shop here as often as I do the other two. Altogether, not a bad store. I've found that their selection is not as large as other warehouse stores.

The BJ's Warehouse Store's

I have been a customer of BJ’s for several years now and I find their service and most products to be great. Recently however they introduced a new style milk carton. They claimed it was experiential in the South Florida area for a short period of time. I must say that this new carton is the worst design I have ever seen for dispensing any kind of liquid let alone milk. Who ever designed it was not thinking of the end user and only thinking of the packaging and transport to their outlets, and even that has been proven to be a disaster, from the many crushed milk cartons and spilled milk all over the place I have witnessed on many occasions at the BJ’s stores.

I am only one person, but in conversations with other customers of at BJ’s they to agree that the new container is not designed with the end user in mind. Why? The carton is nothing more than a box with the pour spout located at one top corner. This makes it almost impossible to pour the milk slowly from the container because the total content is allowed to exit the container at the slightest attempt to pour the milk. Try giving this milk container to a child to pour and see what happens. They even had to special label this container with the wording (TILT AND POUR SLOWLY) this should be a clear indication that there is something wrong with its design. The older original milk container that every other store in the country is using is designed for easy pouring and was designed with the end user in mind.

I am told by BJ’s store employees that they have decided to keep this container. To me this is the most ridicules decision their management has ever made, maybe a small issue to them, but a large issue to their silent customers when it comes time to renew their membership. I know I will certainly rethink my membership.

I am a business owner and if I had something wrong that was causing a problem for my customers I would appreciate their comments, so take it for what its worth. If you’re in BJ’s head office take some time out and pour yourself a glass of milk from one of your newly designed containers and you tell me it doesn’t require reconsideration.

Good, but Sams is better

BJ's is pretty good for bulk purchasing, but sams club has a better selection
