Hertz is a clip joint

I hadn't rented from Hertz for ten years snd had forgotten how terrible it is. My wife and I rented a car today for s short holiday in Maine. They wanted $30/day above already high charges to let both of us drive the car. Never again will I rent from Hertz.

If I could give a 0 as a rating, I would.

Hertz has the customer service of a rock. I was in Florida recently, trying to rent the car I pre-renter from Hertz online, and they said that they were out of that car. Afterwards, they charged me much more than what I had pre-rented for the more expensive car (the only one left) and when the employee messed up in the form, we had to start the process all over again. Will never Use this company again.

Disrespectful and stupid

I called Hertz to get a rate quote while my car was in the shop... Twice I was transferred to the wrong area, where they asked my name and promptly put me on hold for 20+ minutes, until I hung up. On my third call, I was finally able to get a hold of someone who I thought would be more helpful... Instead, he made me feel like I was wasting his time (he told me not to ask questions; that was his job) and laughed at me when I told him I had been transferred to the wrong area, saying it was probably my fault. When he finally gave me the price, it was $50 higher than another company I had looked at. Again, he laughed at me and told me that the other company must not have told me about the taxes. I assured him they had, and that the final price was still lower. I tried to explain that Hertz's $119 a week is more than the other company's price of $179 for two weeks, but he didn't understand. He continued laughing until I hung up. Thanks for your help, Wayne.

Late and ant infestation

My contact with Hertz today was one of my worst customer service experiences ever.
They were late to pick me so I called after about 20 minutes. They realized they didn't have my rental and a different office did. I called that office. They put me onto a third office. So 1.5 hours after they were supposed to show up, a guy arrives with a car. We go to Hertz. They apologize but don't offer any little upgrade or anything. That's okay. I get in the car--I am now very late for work. Get to work, open the door, and realize both doors are CRAWLING WITH ANTS. I call Hertz. Says he is sorry--I can return that car and pick up another. I can't leave work as I am late. After work, I drive home with the ants, completely grossed out. I call Hertz. They are about to close. I point out it is their responsible to get me another car right away. The guy says he didn't put the ants in the car. They pawn me off on another Hertz, also about to close. They suggest I use bug spray and I won't be charged for a special car cleaning when I bring it in!
I call the third place--they are willing to give me the one tiny car they have left if I drive over immediately with the ants.
I would never use or recommend them, and I complained to my insurance company.

I just called the 800 number for assistance. the rep was very pleasent and professional. However, the cost for a one day rental was $181.00 this is absurd!!!! plus the computer phone tree asked me the same exact questions the human rep asked. How frustrating can renting a car be.

Rented me a car that once I got home I noticed a note on back of keys "tire slow leak". I drive to work and come out and it has a flat.

Hertz truly is what you call SCAMMERS they will provide hidden charges in your card 2 to 3 weeks later and they are very unprofessional they have no customer service skills as well as lack of care. Their employees have no professional etiquette and they are almost like highway robbery they are so damn expensive! But it's okay I learned my lesson and those of you that have been a victim of this company please make sure that you constantly check your bill. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU OVER AND OVER AGAIN! Oh and by the way don't try to call they will never answer all they are trained to do is take your money.
