These guys know their stuff.
Having used this software to help with school language courses, I can honestly say that it does a wonderful job. The examples they give are very detailed, and do wonders in helping me learn.

I thought I would try Rosetta Stone to see if I could learn Japanese. I was really excited to start. But for some reason I thought I would read the License Agreement for once. I was horrified of what I read.
Section 1-B. (iv) Licensee acknowledges that, once licensee has successfully completed licensee’s enrollment for the online subscription service, the Rosetta Stone product will be promptly made available for licensee’s use, and LICENSEE DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL OR RECEIVE AND REFUND UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFICALLY AGREED BY LICENSOR in writing or expressly required by operation of applicable law.
Section 1-C (iii) If licensee does not agree to be bound by these provision or any other terms of this license, DO NOT OPEN THE PACKAGING OF THE ROSETTA STONE PRODUCT or install the Rosetta Stone product, and promptly RETURN THE PACKAGE IN UNOPENED FORM. Licensee may obtain a full or prorated refund of licensee’s payment for the Rosetta Stone product by returning the media materials for the Rosetta Stone product and submitting a written request for refund PROVIDED THAT (1) LICENSEE HAS NOT ALREADY INSTALLED OR UTILIZED THE ROSETTA STONE PRODUCT IN ANY WAY AND (2) LICENSOR RECEIVES SUCH REQUEST FOR A REFUND AND ALL OF SUCH RETURNED ROSETTA STONE PRODUCT MEDIA AND MATERIALS WITHIN THIRTY DAYS OF THE ORIGINAL DATE OF PAYMENT. UNLESS OTHERWISE REQUIRED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW LICENSEE SHALL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SHIPPING COSTS INCURRED IN RETURNING THE ROSETTA STONE PRODUCT MEDIA AND MATERIALS.
Section 10-F COOLING-OFF/REVOCATION PERIODS: LICENSEE SHALL NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL THIS LICENSE during any applicable cooling-off/revocation period unless the laws of the jurisdiction applicable to licensee expressly require such a cooling off/revocation period to be provided to licensee.
It may just be me but sounds like you almost have to hire a lawyer to cancel, and if you don’t accept the License Agreement, how do you not open the box when you have to put the product cd in to read the License Agreement.

It does not teach the meaning of the words in English! How are we supposed to use this new language if we don't even know what we are saying. I also can't use speech recognition, resulting in failing grades! I could have picked hundreds of other products! I chose Rosetta Stone, and I am starting to really regret it.

The Rosetta stone online system is horrible. I think I learned more by reading a book and looking things up on Google. The program will show you pictures and then a word and you have to TRY and guess which object in the picture the word goes to. To learn anything, I had to look the word up in Google to find out what it meant so I could use the software. Horrible design! Extremely cheap. Costs way too much for what you get. Not worth it.

I teach Spanish and French and was looking for another language--I ended up buying Latin. I am so impressed with the whole program and how easy it is to do. I could not be happier!

Software is indicative of your determination.
Rosetta Stone isn't perfect, but I can say that if you put the minimal effort into taking in the information given, Rosetta Stone is sure to let you learn your desired language.Anonymous-61516.... June 5th, 2012
I absolutely love my rosetta stone french, it is a great language learning program, but I have got to say the tech support is not that great. The first person I talked to was very unhelpful but he connected me to someone who could help. The wait was kind of bad, but I just worked on other things while I waited. Eventually I got what I wanted, so in the end it was fine. I give rosetta stone an 9.4 overall. I can't wait to learn french!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loved this Product
I found that Rosetta Stone was well worth the money spent. I learned very quickly and easily and the language that I have learned has stuck with me long term even when I have gone extended periods without using it!

I have purchased rosseta stone Polish and tried to install on my pc but it does not work keep giving me the same messgae that no cd in the drive while cd is running full speed, very non-sence I am very disappointed.
