i currently own a sony playstaion3 that i bought as soon as it came out which was bout 5-6 years ago and since that time ive had my playstaion go bad 4 times . the first time was after 8 months the second time was about a year and the third time was about a year and a half. each time it was the same thing the yellow light of death . iv'e reached out to sony to repair the units which had cost me $150.00 each time. they repaired them the last 2 times at my expence . im getting really fed up with this and ive even tried to contact the corp office to get this common issue resolved but they stated that its not a common issue with these units. so i reported sony playstation to the BBB and to consumer reports . so dont ever waste your time calling sony they could give a rats ass about cust service and cust are always wrong . just report them to the BBB youll get a call from sony and BBB to make sure things are fixed . btw if its not a common issue why is it that they have over 30+ videos on how to repair the playstions by using a heat gun. i thought i would try it myself after this last yellow light of death. i took my playstation apart used the heat gun and put new thermal paste on the processor and now it works just fine and all it cost me was $1.50 for the paste from ebay. so if this is not a common issue then you tell me . ive printed well over 100 pages of forums and ive save links to videos of playstion problems . i will be taking this further and to let people be aware of these problems and have all of the older models recalled . sony messed with the wrong person here good luck in court.
Sony Xperia SLThis is a recent smartphone in the market. Priced currently at 350$, you wouldn't expect much from this this cheap contender, but it delivers great performance and value for the money.
The Xperia SL is a rigid and well-designed handset boasting premium features.
It has a prominent 4.3 inch screen, with a whopping 342 ppi (pixels per inch). The screen density is better than the latest Iphone 5 and all images and videos look crisp and vivid. The screen is also scratch-resistant meaning it won't go down with just some rubbing on hard surfaces.
Next up is the hardware. The Xperia SL packs a powerful 1.7GHz dual-core processor. If that wasn't enough, it comes with an Adreno 220 GPU to make 3d games run flawlessly. Beside the muscle, the Xperia SL shines with an impressive 12 MP camera. You would be pleased while taking a picture anywhere or recording in 1080p HD.
The Xperia comes with no expandable memory slot, thugh it gives you a huge 32GB's of space (25GB is availale to you) for your HD movies and games.
Lastly comes the Battery life of the Xperia SL. It's not anything suprising, lasting a usual single day like any other smartphone.
Final verdict: This phone is a great buy for the price, but if you want a more powerful phone, I suggest you check out the Google Nexus 4.
Sony TvI bought a Sony Bravia 3d 40" just after 1year the tv stop working I contacted sony customer service what to do. The staff could not even help. Please everyone out there stay a way from Sony tv they are expensive but don't last long.
How the hell can a sony camcorder stop working while it has only been out of the closet one time?
You are a fool if you buy any Sony product!
Sony micro hi-fi component system CMT-V50iP
This system is disappointing. It will not play some favourite CDs properly – it hangs up. A tap of the fast-forward will sometimes get it to continue. These discs played without problem on the 20+ year old Denon this system replaced, play on the car stereo [2005 Japanese] and indeed play on an old Sony CFD-S01that I use in my workspace. This problem took a couple of months to discover – like most customers I cannot drop everything and check that all my CDs play on a new system. When I tried to return it, in good condition and in original packaging, a stubborn and perhaps ageist associate manager refused to give me a refund, citing his Sony Store 30-day return policy. Given a choice of repair or replacement I took a replacement.
**The replacement has exactly the same problem.**
I understand that with the shift to mp3 players, audio systems with a CD player often have a low quality one. If this player – and a replacement – performs worse than 5-7 year old players and indeed a 23 year old one, this would seem to be the case.
And I seem to be stuck with it.
AND I tried hard and expended appreiable time trying to get this comment into the Sony.ca reviews of the product, but the site wouldn't accept it. It wanted much identifying information, which was bad enough, then it didn't seem to have a 'submit' button.
My issue is was with youtube, but once the playstation store went the same way, that right their is what set me off it is so so much more confusing, WHEN THE 1ST WAY WAS BY FAR THE BEST. So since i have a computer i dont have to deal with youtube because that is bad, BUT TO THE POINT Sony PS3 STORE IS HORRIBLE & NEEDS TO GO BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL SONY PS3 STORE IF anyone gets any info about this e-mail me also if anyone has started getting signatures and need more i know a lot of people living near me that will sign them So E-MAIL: just send to both b/c one was getting fixed so both should work but send to both e-mail's
I bought the new Sony Vaio Spark laptop on 6th Oct'12 with all the latest configuraions and antivirus.Within a two weeks the hardisk got corrupted even after having the antivirus installed.I think this is the fault in sony vaio laptops that there hardsik got corrupted very soon and machine get hangs very frequently.Same situation one of my friend has faced two years back with his new Sony Vaio laptop.Also Sony is not providing any system recovery & OS CD at the time of laptop purchase.So for any problem we have to run in there service center.
Keyboard keys are very smooth with backlight features.Good in looks.Less weight.
A generally "cool" design.Ranging from their laptops to their Playstation series consoles, Sony products share a sort of slick "coolness" in their designs, which I always like. It really emphasizes that the products perform better than those of competitor companies.
Poor quality warranty customer service.I hate to be a complainer, but when I feel there is a need I will. We bought a sony blu-ray surround sound system. Our system started having problems right after the you can still return it stage (or I would return and buy a different brand). It freezes and turns the screen pink almost every movie we watch. The easiest way to fix it is to unplug it and plug it back in ... and then find where we were in the movie again. We called Sony and they had us set it back to factory settings ... after 2 weeks it started again. It also on occasion will not sync up the sound with the video so it is off by a couple of seconds. Okay, so I know that things don't always work perfectly. But when we have to deal with buying an expensive product and it not working well at all. I do expect the warranty to take care of the problem quickly and efficiently. Instead, we are required to pay money to ship the item to you. I have NEVER had to do anything like this with a warranty in my life! We will also have to do without our blu-ray until you figure out if you will fix ours or a ship a refurbished one or however that works. Okay, so I spend almost $400 on it ... then have to deal with it not working ... and then have to pay more money for them to get it working! Not impressed at all!
Poor Sony customer service DSCWX9 camera.Had a new DSCWX9($145 new)camera in which the viewfinder failed to operate during the third time I used it...I sent it back to the warrainty repair depot in Laredo, Texas....They got back to me saying the camera was damaged and that it would cost $214 to fix it!!!!....The camera was not damaged in any way and I am shocked that SONY would shirk it's responsibility to it's customers in such a manner...I will never buy another Sony product and issue this warning to others...Beware...SONY is just another big company that DOES NOT stand behind its products....STAY AWAY from this company...Kenneth Snyder
In September of 2007 we purchased a 46" Sony Bravia LCD Flat Screen TV. On April 23rd, 2012 it failed to come on. We took to the store that we purchased it from and their Certified Technician reviewed the problem. End Result, the Flat Screen quit working! Would cost $2000 to fix! Needless to say, we did not fix. Can you imagine spending almost $3000 for a tv and it quits working before 5 years is up? That is what we think.
Further we had a Sony VAIO laptop of the same age, that failed (Hard Drive) in the same month! We are not pleased with Sony products and would not recommend them.
great quality productsa few years back, i bought a new tv. 6 months later, i bought a real tv, a sony, after the first one crapped out. ive had that tv for 3 years now and it works great. ive never had any problems with picture or sound. i even bought a 2nd sony tv a little under a year ago because of how great the first one was. ive also had sony playstation, sony ps2 and sony ps3 and never had a complaint with any of them. the games look great, blu-ray dvds look amazing when i play them in my ps3, and netflix even runs through it. i would recommend sony products to anyone, anywhere.
RE: SONY S570 BDPTHIS BLUERAY PLAYER OPERATED PROPERLY UNTIL I DOWNLOADED THE August 2011 Firmware UpDATE....AFTER THAT DOWNLOAD, THE UNIT WOULD AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF AFTER 10 MINS...AS A TRAINED TECH, I TRIED TO TROUBLE-SHOOT W/O SUCCESS, SO I CALLED THEIR untrained asian "tech support"...OH GOD!!!! 6 CALLS & 2 HOURS LATER, THEY HAD ME RECONFIGURE THE FACTORY SETTINGS IN THE "mask". NOW,THE UNIT IS DEAD!!!
Good for basic pairI have a basic pair of sony headphones and am very pleased with what they do for me. They were worth every penny, and they are great to have to toss in my purse and not really have to worry about.
Just so you know...I will not buy another SONY TV or recommend it to any of my friends. A 3 yr old tv is garbage...I had red lines and then green lines and then a blur of red/black & white on a Sony Bravia TV. I feel I got a real lemon especially when all I kept getting told was it must be the cable or the fact I have a VCR. This is baloney as a friend of mine just told me they have the same TV with no VCR and now they have red and green lines too. I just feel you needed to know how disappointed I was with this product.
Sony, great brandI love this brand, I have been using this brand since my childhood. The products are great, they make products for everyone, from old to young to kids, for everyone.
Great ProductsSony usually produces some pretty quality stuff. They work and are durable. No problems yet.
when i was happy to get a camera for my 15th birthday i didn't mind sony but then the camera got messed up and the lens cap is broke and it is still in warranty but the probellem is i dont have a paper work of the Purchase its a dam gift gosh i want it to last a long time but now i got a broke camera that won't open the lens
Grand WegaI have never had a problem with any of my sony products, recently the bulb went out in my lcd tv. I was a little sceptical about the ease of replacement but I called customer support and they walked me right thru it. I was pleased with my experience.
Purchased a laptop 2 month ago and never open the box. After turning on the laptop it worked for 2 hours and got a Motherboard problem (According to Best Buy Technical Service ) It doesn't turn on anymore. Sony's solution for this is sending me a box to send it to repair center. For me it is a day old laptop & anyone who can read that hard-drive can understand that. I feel like getting a refurbished laptop for full price. I also have a dell laptop & their customer service 10 times better & laptops are much cheaper.
