Toshiba Encore WT8 Review

Overall, the Toshiba Encore WT8, and this could be said of all Windows 8.1 8-inch tablets, lacks the polished feel of a consumer tablet. It's a touch too large, and there are some potential issues unless the user has prior expertise with Windows 8. The desktop is not something that the average tablet user should be exposed to. This is a very exciting tablet for explorers and experienced users, with an incredibly complete and quick surfing experience, long, long screen-on battery life, versatile networking, and external expansion choices. For Skype users, the camera and microphones should be considered. It needs a companion keyboard and mouse to become the Swiss Army Knife of PCs, but there are currently solutions available. If you can assemble a USB and HDMI-based docking'station, the WT8 delivers far more than the usual consumer tablet. Keep an eye out for the portrait-mode touch problem, as well as the comparably poor Instant Go/CS battery life. 40 hours on standby is unsatisfactory and, in principle, violates Microsoft's CS criteria.

Is it superior to other Windows 8.1 8-inch tablets? That's a subject we can't fully answer, but if the CS and touch concerns are resolved, it'll be among the finest assuming you're okay with the weight.

Don't waste your time. Go for Toshiba. I prefer Toshiba laptop rather than other brands .

Four Star

I have been using this product for almost two years now, and got to admit that not a bad experience at all. And It is very much cost effective but I reckon the customer service can be improved.

Toshiba support website

This site is terrible for driver downloads. Once you have selected your model, the list of drivers for the model is generic and you have to sort through your device ids just to find the correct driver for your model. very time consuming.

Only received quality laptop and tv builds so far! :D

I own a Toshiba tv for 4 years and a laptop for 2 years. Not to mention both products have remained in factory condition since then. Compared to oother products I have purchased, their products have remained great in quality after years of use.

Toshiba tv support

Extremely unhelpful! Wanted me to register my tv and provide much info before they said they would help. Told them I tried 3 times to download their manual for a 30l4300u and now my laptop will not work. They kept referring me back to my laptop to download the manual! 5 times! I can see asking it a second time but not 5 times. Now I have a tv and remote that won't work and no laptop. And of course there " were no supervisors there" At first they were in meetings and when questioned they simply "were not available". We've had toshiba tv's in the past but will return this one and never buy toshiba again. The " support" staff was Jerry. Refused to give any other identifying info to let his busy supervisors know who I spoke with.

I have had two Toshiba Tecras stop functioning correctly after a year or less of ownership. One was used less than a year and one was used for one month or less.

Horrible laptops galore.

Toshiba seems to have the worst quality laptops imaginable. Within a mere SIX months of buying ours, it stopped charging. After about an eternity of being put on hold, we were told that even though we should be within the year warranty, we needed to pay to get it repaired. I mean, really? Just take my advice and steer clear of these junky laptops.

I HATE THIS LAPTOP ...It is far from being user friendly and I have tried for two months to understand how to use it. The worst is all the ads that pop up all the time. I'm at the point to give it to my four year grandson so he can do whatever he wants to it so I can buy a new one. I will tell everyone I know to not buy this piece of blank blank blank blank!!!!!

Satellite 870P Laptops - two laptops bought in last 2.5 months. Both failed at the point where plug enters laptop. First one too 40+ days to get repaired and they lost my power cord -- work done under warranty by authorized Toshiba repair depot. Too scared to get the second one fixed. Will they damage it or loose it or return it a month later. Never will buy Toshiba again.

terrible experience with Toshiba laptop.

The Toshiba brand laptop I used to own was notorious for failure. The keys would fall off without warning, CD's wouldn't be read, and the sound system suddenly stops working, forcing me to send it in for repair quite a few times. Steer clear of these junk!

Buy Toshiba LED TV 19 Type HV-10E used 3 months only less good signal reception and volume swell-shrink itself is not stable. whereas the position of the city of Surabaya.
before the month to 10, screen LED stripes 50% - 75%, sometimes as PnP (2 pictures at the right and left middle stripes).
Toshiba is now very different quality and warranties in the past.

This is the worst laptop I have ever used! My IT guy has worked on it so much that I should have just went and bought another laptop! What happened Toshiba, the reason I bought this one was because my old Toshiba was perfect! This Satellite L655D S-5066 is the most unreliable piece of equipment I have ever had to use. If this is how you produce your laptops now, I will never purchase another one. Now I even went and purchased a external hard drive because I do not trust this machine. It also was a Toshiba 1TB which was another $140.00 bucks to find out that it doesn't even work! Toshiba shame on you!

DVD Player damaged my DVD's.

I was having the problem where all of the DVD's I placed in my Toshiba DVD player seemed to come out with scratches. I found out that the reason for this is that there was a broken part inside the machine scratching into the DVD's! Having not moved the device since installing it, I can conclude that this is quite a failure in manufacture. I would advise against Toshiba DVD Players based on this experience.

The quality of Toshiba laptop is the worst of the worst. We bought one on Black Friday 2010 and it can not be charged 3 months later. We went back to Best Buy to get some advice, I was told we had to pay 180 dollars to fix it. Of course, Toshiba will not fix it for nothing. 2of my friends who bought Toshiba laptop and they all had the same problem. I am sure it is the quality problem since I never had problem with my 3 Dell laptop at all. DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND LAPTOP AT ALL.

overall laptop

I have had this laptop since it came out.
This laptop is reliable and has lots of features. I have updated to win xp from vista and some other programs. I still use this a215-s7427 and works the same as the day I bought. My overall experience is very, vey good.

Toshiba Personal Opinion and Experience

Most people are frustrated about Toshiba products. However, for me as I experienced it personally, I believe that Toshiba products are very heat resistant and durable in terms of hardware.

I am currently using Toshiba Satellite laptop and it works fine even if it is already 2 years since I bought it. Compared to other brands, I think that this product is the best for me in terms of reliability and hardware durability.

The reason I found this website was because for the third time the power cord to my Toshiba suddenly WILL NOT FIT! My grandson has had to replace his power cord twice to the tune of $85 per cord! I was upset thinking he was mistreating his laptop. Guess what?! Now MY power cord won't connect! I have purchased five Toshiba laptops over the past three-four years. One had a fan problem and would shut itself off. My son, a computer professional, has recovered documents for me on at least two occasions after hard drive failures. He is the only reason I have not had to deal with Toshiba's customer service!

My first laptop, a Dell, worked so well that I only got rid of it because it was so old I couldn't run newer programs on it. Needless to say, my next laptop will be Dell or Sony. I'm taking the hard drive out of this $#@! dagnabbed Toshiba and will make it an external drive.

This company is an absolute joke. Bought a laptop in early March 2011 and received it on March 16, 2011. It worked for about 5 days and then the LCD stopped working. I spoke to customer service and sent the laptop back to the repair depot in a box they provided for $24.95. After a few days they called to let me know that the laptop wasnt' covered! WHAT??!! Why? Because it isn't covered. Sorry. Can I speak to your supervisor? No, sorry I can't escalate. You don't have a boss? I have a boss, but I can't escalate. Only option is to send a letter like it's 1911 instead of 2011.

About two months ago I sent my laptop to Toshiba because its LCD screen wasn't working and touchpad button loose. I have received it back after the repair process but I realized that its frame was broken at the point of the ethernet cable plug. Moreover, there was a damage at the bottom of its LCD screen (I guess the technician tried to open the LCD unit by forcing it with something to change inverter board). Then I contacted to Toshiba repair service again and told them the situation. They created an order number for my unit to go back into the depot for repair. I sent my computer again and it was received by the depot on 10th of March 2011. I have been waiting for it since then, and there is no sign that I can get it back in the near future. When I contacted them, they told me that the part that they need to fix my laptop would arrive on 6 May.

I am a graduate student and I have to write papers and take exams. Each time I have to look for a computer to study and suffering from their lousy work. Do I have to suffer from your repair team’s fault?

The end of semester is approaching and I have to write my thesis and just because of Toshiba's carelessness I can’t study as efficient as I should. Each time, I have to go to the library, or ask someone to borrow computers. This is how Toshiba works, I will never think of buying a Toshiba again!
