Customer serice

The customer service reps have to trained to LISTEN AND UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. I had to call 12 times, got disconnected twice, and still not sure about the status.

The customer service/warehouse manger keeps repeating the same info (wrong info) over and over again. THEY DO NOT LISTEN or UNDERSTAND!.

Been without a phone for two weeks waiting for a replacement phone).

They sent me a shipping label and customer service tells me that was the new phone after i told them 11 times no that was the shipping label to mail my phone to the warehouse, which i did and they received 3 days ago. Still i do not know if they will send a replacement phone--unclear-- their English is very bad. One of the worst customer service i ever dealt with. Assuming i will never receive a phone for the service i paid for.

Well I have had my phone for several years now and have always kept the minutes up. Until recently I tried to use it and it said i needed to add minutes? I had over 2000 minutes and 60 days left. So I called Tracfone?? Big laugh. Now my phone number has changed?? And it does not match my serial number?I can call out on it but no one can call me because it says it is an in-operable number??This is a complete disaster. I just live chatted to see if they could fix it and I was given the run around. DO NOT BUY A TRACFONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Horrible customer service.

We bought two Tracfones to replace our old ones, in July. My battery was dead on arrival. It takes many hours to charge and one short call kills it. Overnight and idle it's dead. I called Tracfone within days of receiving this phone. The other phone is working fine. This was July 22. I have been through customer support 10x now plus two online chats. Yes, they sent me a new battery after the 3rd grueling contact, but it was destroyed in shipment by FedEX and I didn't receive it..just notification from FED that it was destroyed. I am so exhausted with Tracfone. I have a ticket number, but I have to repeat everything from the beginning of this issue back to people who do not understand English and I don't understand them. Hours on the phone over the last month to get a battery that was authorized but not received. Each time I want to torture myself, I contact Tracfone and go through this again. Each time, they give me the same ticket number and promise that I will have a battery in 2 business days. Today is September 1st. approximately 6 WEEKS and I still have not received a replacement battery for my new phone. I am a 10+ year customer of this company and the customer service has gone to the dogs. IF I ever get a battery that holds a charge for my phone, I might be able to use my minutes up and call it DONE. Never again...they lost me over a $10 battery. Nice going TracFone!

bad customer service; poor quality phone.

My first tracfone worked fine for 3 months---then it just died. It was fully charged but just quit working. I called tracfone customer service and spoke to a female service rep who seemed confused and rather stupid. She said she put in an order for me to receive a new phone from tracfone---free---to replace the one that quit. I waited for 3 weeks, but the replacement phone never was delivered. So I called tracfone customer service again. I had to go through so many electronic menus and so many dead-ends and had to make 4 different calls to them until I finally found a rep who knew a LITTLE BIT about how to handle my situation. He said that the previous rep made a typo error in my address and that's why the replacement phone was never sent to me. So he [supposedly] fixed the error and promised that the replacement phone would arrive [in 7-10 days]. It is almost a month later. No replacement phone.
Then a week ago I bought a new android smart phone with some big promotional deal where you get 1200 minutes from tracfone for almost free. so when I tried to activate this new android/LG/tracfone---the tracfone website was unable to activate the phone!!! So I called the toll free number to see if it could be activated that way---and they couldn't activate my tracphone that way, either.An un-activated phone is useless to me---and so is the tracfone company!!! i'm returning the phone for a refund and buying a phone from a different company---and using Verizon or Virgin mobile next time.

I read another website where a dissatisfied tracfone customer who was given the run-around and poor customer service by tracfone finally got the tracfone company to listen to his complaint and actually fix the problem. HOW??? He contacted the Federal Communications Commission. I wish I had thought of that.

Samsung S425G phone ok, TracFone terrible service

From reading my Sims card number, I learn I have T-Mobile service. My phone is about 8 months old and a few months ago I started getting the dreaded "129" blank text messages whenever my battery ran low and had to power up after recharge, now also the "emergency call only" message which goes away if you turn the phone off/on. My old S425G phone with TracFone years ago had AT&T service in this same area and I never had these problems. Tried to get help from TracFone service, agent told me to remove the battery and put it back in without turning the phone off. That didn't help solve the problem. I'm going to try asking them to send me a Sims card that would have AT&T service and see if that solves the problem.

lack of customer service phone numbers that go to real people

J bought a brand new tracfone for over 100.dolars and I can't even get a live person to help me. all I get is one number after another that leads to nothing. I'm sorry I ever bought this thing and I will never buy anything else from tracfone and I will probably send this phone back to them.

Extremely poor customer service and support.

On Sept.20,2013 I purchased two new phones from Tracfone on their website. I used their phone finder zip code search thing and it came up with several phones that supposedly worked in my area. I chose new, Samsung S425G phones and paid $49.99 each, got free shipping, used a $10 off coupon and after tax it was a total of $95.38. Keep in mind that everything I tell you is about two of the same type of phone. One is mine and the other is my husbands.

I received the phones and was able to switch over the sim cards, minutes and time from our previous phones. I was pretty happy until out of the blue I start getting empty texts from the number 129. I went on Tracfone's support forum, which is a complete and utter joke and asked about it. Not only does one have to sign up for the forum, in order to get help they must make 5 posts before support can send them a Private Message. Finally I was able to get through and get the Private Message which is nothing more than a tinyURL link to a chat. When through their "what's the issue" drop downs, entered my serial number, etc. Waited 20 mintues... no one came on. Well, I didn't have time to wait just then so I put it off.

About a month later I finally got though. Got into chat and was told by the agent that they had no control over who texts me. I explained that I had done some research and learned that 129 was a t-mobile voice mail page. Telling me that there was a voice mail. Which is interesting since there was no voicemail. Not only that these 129 texts cost .5 minutes to view. Still the agent insisted that there was nothing they could do.

Next I/we started getting "Emergency Calls Only" on the screen when I turned the phone on. ???! I called support and was told to just turn the phone off then on and that should fix it. I did that and it worked ok for a while.

Next we got "Check Call Restrictions 34" turned it off, turned it back on and "Check Call Restrictions 34." I did this repeatedly on both phones and one would Call restrictions 34 and the other Emergency Calls Only...or visa versa.

So later that week when I had time as was near my home phone I called TracFone's Support line. I spoke to a person with an accent that ASSURED me that new sim cards would fix my problems with the phones. He gave me two reference numbers: 1088204952 and 1088205311, I was to wait 3 days for approval and then after it shipped it would be 3 to 7 days.

Today is March 25, 2014. I received two emails today. Both said my order had shipped. The first one says they are sending me a different hand set. And the second one says they are sending me something and a tracking number.

I think New hand set?! It's supposed to be a sim card! So I call customer service AGAIN. Tell the story yet again, give info,reference numbers, order numbers... and wait while the agent tries to find information on it. Finally after what seemed eternity, she tells me in what can only be described as gibberish because all I got was new phone because my phone won't work in my area. Gee that's interesting since it has been working!

A few minutes later I think to look up this phone they are sending me. I am astonished. Not only are they giving me an inferior phone, they are giving me a refurbished phone.... and I am supposed to send my "NEW" phones back?!

So basically... Tracfone sells me a phone that doesn't work in my area (even though their website says it does) then tells me I need a new sim card to make it work... then tries to send me reburbished inferior phones with a value of $9.99 to replace my New phones I bought at $49.99. Isn't that just a bit like saying... 'here, I have this polished turd instead of that pearl?'... and expecting me to be happy about it. Uh, nope.

I get back on the phone to yet another worthless agent and let them know that this is not an acceptable replacement. I don't even know how many people I talked to now but it was numerous! I kept escalating until I got "Jim" who was supposedly at the corporate office. I warned him that at this Point I was livid... extremely angry with tracfone. Told the hold story again, explained that sending me a refurbished phone that isn't even remotely the same features-wise was not acceptable that they could upgrade me or get me a New not refurbished comparable CDMA phone. He hmmmed and hawwwed, put me on hold numerous times and finally disconnected me because I said "DAMN."

So, Now I'm FURIOUS. I have filed an FTC bait and switch complaint. I have looked up the Senior VPs and the Pres of the company. I am determined to talk to one of them about this. I called and of course by this time (6 hours later, today alone) their corporate offices are closed. So I called another number and spoke to Gracelda who wrote an email to Corporate asking them to call me tomorrow. And I BETTER hear from them within the time allotted.

Completely agree with anonymous 126112. Two of their customer service reps were insulting, rude @ arrogant, even refusing to transfer me to their supervisors. The rest were ineffective. The unfortunate thing is up to this, I'd been a satisfied customer for approximately 10 years, but then I had rarely used the phone & only purchased it for emergency purposes.

Customer Service has been pretty good overall. But I Tracfones don't get good reception. I brought a double minute android phone which I'm suppose to get double minutes which I don't get. I get free minutes every month besides putting minutes on my phone and haven't received double minutes. Also can't get into facebook,or internet,or email it comes up with error.

I bought my wife a Tracphone. When she tried to activate it the numbers would not go thru. The lady said it was a defective phone and they would replace it. We got a replacement that said reconditioned. It was NOT a new one! This one is always locked! We bought minutes on it and have money invested in it. We are at wits end. They replaced it with a piece of JUNK!!

Can't get a phone number in my own area code.

I have had the phone for 5 days - they keep saying easy to fix - will be fixed in 24 hours. Never get a new phone number in my area code. Maybe one day I will be able to use my phone. As of now, worst experience ever with a phone.

Tracfone is great until you need customer service.

It is absolutely terrible.

If you have to call from your phone you'll be blowing through minutes on multiple phone calls(it seems nothing much can be fixed online).

For some problems (like voice mail which seems to be a frequent issue) you have to call from another phone

Great phone, worst customer service

Have had trac fone for years, no problems until I try to upgrade phone and transfer phone #. Very rude and uneducated agents that gave a sex line phone # as the corporate office. When these phones are up, NO MORE TRAC FONE!

Tracfone is terrible. They provide fones that have a useless 'browser' feature to eat minutes and there seems no way to disable it at least on the samsung units I purchased. WILL NOT PURCHASE AGAIN -
Have been virgin pp customer with 4 phones for many years, going back in spite of their downsides. Takes a bit to drive someone back to virgin.

You Get What You Pay For

I was tired of paying $100 a month with my contract cellular phone and decided to switch to Tracfone, having been enticed with their low rates and no contracts. The price of the phone was relatively cheap at $20 and it came equipped with double minutes for life. So far so good. The phone was nothing special, but for the price I didn't expect much. The phone doesn't get very good service in most locations, and when you do get a call the volume is low and reception is terrible. All in all though, you get what you pay for with Tracfone and hey it might work for some people.

Tracfone's 411 so bad, it's dangerous

Today was the second time I tried to use Tracfone's 411. The first time I had a flat tire in a blizzard. I was less than a mile from the nearest cell tower.

First, before I could even get any information, I had to listen to over a minute of advertising. Then, all I got was a recording, with completely non-functioning voice recognition software. I finally gave up trying to call a garage. Fortunately, a passer-by had another kind of phone, and they helped.

Then today I was trying to call the police. Once again, all I could hear from their 411 service was: "I'm sorry; I can't understand you".

To make matters worse, even after pressing "end call" many times, the phone still would not let me hang up on the 411 call. I ended up losing more than 40 minutes for one useless call.

This useless Tracfrone offers nothing but a false sense of security. I must now find another company.

Customer Service

I forgot my cell phone at a restaraunt and went back to get it and it was gone, keep in mind about and hour or so had passed so it was enought time for anyone to pick it up. My own fault, but the customer service I got was great and they said my new phone would be out to me in 3 to 4 weeks.. it only took 1 week! Thank you tracfone people :)

Really bad experience with pay as you go and trying to disconnect...

Signed up for Tracfone after my husband died and cancelled land line. I had no way to find my Sprint phone, so it was just a back up pay as you go that was charged on my credit cart every month, but no contract. From the beginning when I turned it on it would list the minutes, then say I had no service. The phone worked anyway so I still used it about 1 to 2 times a month if I misplaced my phone.
Last week all of a sudden it wouldn't work. Although I had 700 minutes and had paid through the next month, it wouldn't work. I spent the next 3 hours trying to discontue service online, (where I enrolled), which I couldn't do, then Goggling Tracfone Cust Service phone number since there wasn't one on the site. After talking to two people I couldn't understand, one a manager, I was finally told I could call back mid Nov to start service again which meant I would pay for first half of Nov with no service.
Yeah, right.
Five days later I called back to make sure they weren't going to keep charging me. Finally found a number I had to call on the site and the wait time was 20 minutes and I should leave a number for them to call me back. Yeah right. I went back to the other Google site and in a minute got an answer. She told me to take the battery out, that I did have 700 minutes. Well, that didn't work. But, she said I was not enrolled anymore. If I find I have a charge on my credit card next month I will go through them to block any more charges. After 4 hours, I won't mess with them again.
I seldom write reviews I've seldom had worse problems with a company. Is that the way they make their money? Making it impossible to unenroll? Never again.
Anyway, I ended up using the Find My Iphone App on my Ipod so I won't need a back up phone.
My advice is to find another phone company because if you run into problems, good luck. I've learned than any company that has a forum for people who are having problems instead of a large customer service number displayed is a company to avoid.

Bad service

I just move to the US. My husband and I bought tracfone. I was getting every day calls to my new tracfone from people i dont know. they told me I was calling them ( I didn't made this calls). I spent the expensive time I bought, apologized this people and explains it wasn't me how call them.
When I call the costumer service they change my number and I had to spent an hour on the phone ( on my account) until they have changed my number.
They didn't compensate me for the inconvenience.

Great replacement policy.

Tracfones come with a great replacement policy. If you were to lose them or get it stolen, you can get a free replacement in a matter of days, no questions asked. Such great customer service is rare nowadays.

I can't believe that Tracfone is making me pay for their advertising ads when I dial 411. Not only is this inconvenient since usually when I dial 411 for information I am in a rush and to have to listen to a commercial before getting through is really ANNOYING. Also, I wonder what the FTC would think about a phone company making customers pay for minutes that are used by the provider to make advertising money. This seems illegal and should be investigated. Perhaps a class action lawsuit is necessary to get them to realize how many people find this to be a clear out rip off. Not to mention putting customers at possible danger since if there is an emergency and they are trying to get help immediately by using their Tracfone and instead they have to listen to an advertising ad. Also, besides using up customer's minutes that they paid for, they are also using up the battery.

Tracfone should stop this advertising on customer's phones or be held accountable for unethical business practices.

It's a good phone for people who never use their phone.

Tracfone would only be a good cell phone if you rarely ever use it. And even with the double minutes benefit, it is still tremendously over-priced for those who use their phone to any level of consistancy. Coverage is decent, but there are many times when I don't receive texts sent or the person I'm texting does not receive them. I really would not recommend this phone to anyone who plans on using it regularly. Customer survice is also a hassle. Over all, it is not a good deal.

Customer Service absolutely horrible!

tracfone website assures me that i can transfer phone #, minutes and service from old tracfone to new tracfone but it will not let me. I spent 45 minutes, 38 seconds on hold, after being told it would be a 15 minute wait. Then called a different number (800-323-2366) and talked to a real person, who put me on hold 6 times, 3 minutes each time. He told me that he couldn't get the department to answer and I asked him to call me back. He said he couldn't unless I was on the line. We'll see who lasts longer - the tracfone support people or me, who may throw the whole thing in the trash because, while the phone is cheap, the frustration level and ridiculous service makes you understand why the big guys can charge more.

Tracfone customer service

I bought 2 LG800g phones, one for me and one for my wife. The first phone activated with no problem. The second phone would not activate properly. I called customer service. Answered in four rings. The man had me go to the code entry mode and punch in a whole bunch of numbers. Problem solved in under four minutes. I think most negative reviews are an id ten t error on the part of the poster (id10t)

They suck

Calls are outsources to guayana and they have NO CLUE. No one can tell me how to add the extra 250 minutes for $5, they say they don't offer that, which is B.S. Iwas on hold for 22 minutes, plus another 16 trying to have someone help me, 38 minutes off my phone for nothing but to listen to some moron try to read in english.

THE KEYPAD DISAPPEARS

The Tracfone LG 800 is terrible the keypad disappears when the party answers. When your party answers and prompts to press ny number you have to unlock the keypad and struggle to get the keypad back up in time to press any number. Sometime it is to late and the call prompt is totally lost!!!!!

LG800G

I got this LG800G in Feb 2012.It is one of the most unreliable cell that I have ever had. The problems are as follows...In less than 2 months it had to be replaced due to the fact that it could hold a charge..I bought 3 of these cells for my friends and two of them had the same problems..The cost was $ 49.99 each and before the dead battery faults the reception was intermittent and dropped off constantly My Samsung "Qwerty" no problems...

This is a great little phone. Takes a pretty decent picture. Texting is fast and easy. My old phone went dead and a Tracfone representative quickly helped me transfer my existing minutes to the new phone. Very Happy so far!

Web page is very difficult for people
with poor vision. I suggest you use sharper contrasting colors as well as larger fonts.
Also web page is much to complicated
for those of us over 65 years.

Website & Customer Support

I just spent over 90 minutes trying to resolve an issue of purchasing a "bundle" of minutes through my active Tracfone account. After spending about 35 minutes on the website, I phoned the 800# and spoke to two reps who insisted it was not possible to buy a 50 minute bundle, even though I have done this several times. After another long wait I finally was connected to someone who didn't dispute this option.
While we were talking, the transaction finally was completed. I don't know of any other business that is so time consuming and difficult to accomplish things.

Missing minutes

I've had Tracfone for 10+ years but don't use it often. Since I have to buy service days, I have 2601.4 minutes of airtime. I bought a new Tracfone and tried to activate it. However, the rep said their records show only 1150 minutes of airtime. After I asked several times what happened to the other 1500 minutes, he said he'd let me talk to his supervisor but he'd say the same thing. Why does my old Tracfone show 2601.40 minutes but they will only credit me with 1150? That's a big ripoff. I'll probably never use all my minutes but that's not the point.

Tracfone confused my account with my husbands old tracfone

My husband's plan expired 1/1911 and apparently whoever activated my phone just put our last name in and proceeded without looking at my phone Serial #. I thought I wouldn't have cell phone use for at least a week. Lucky for me I was wrong!! I e-mailed tech support, explained all the problems associated with the mix up (this was all at 12:30 am Sunday morning), account registration - changed my name to his, even put his mothers maiden name instead of mine, activated his old phone with my new minutes and days, instead of transferr-ing my Verizon # to my phone it was transferred to his phone, and all this was done after my verizon was closed!! I had no cell phone and went to bed mad that I had moved from Verizon to save money. I got up on Sunday morning and EVERYTHING WAS FIXED!! Everything worked perfectly and I love my phone. I'm looking forward to having my choice of deciding how much my cell phone cost. Not having a company keep telling me I need to upgrade my phone and chg $20 more everytime I turn around sounds good to me!!

Do not buy thr Tracfone LG800G Touchpad phone. I have had nothing but problems with this piece of junk. I am quiting Tracfone and going to Straight Talk $30 plan and get a simple flip phone by Samsung. My last two LG's were Horrible and the other bad reception. Please do not buy the LG800G you will hate it, the controls are difficult it want to lock up out and by the time you unlock the pad the call is lost. You've been warned!!!!

Tracfone, the cheap is expensive

The price is cheap, but you will pay dearly with your time. They will double bill your account, deactivate the phone, or not add minutes. Phone calls to them can take up to an hour each. Representatives are difficult to understand and must constantly put you on hold to speak to their supervisors. Once the problem is resolved, it's all to do over the next month.

New tel-no transfer & activation

The internet did not work for me, However, I made a tel call and got exceptional service. I did have to wait 15mins b-4 she ans--but she took care of my every need. I haven't used the cell-no comments on cell tel. I made my purchase from HSN--and they will stand by the product.

Worst phone/plan I've ever had.

I've had Tracfone for four years. Customer service was always incredibly frustrating. You have to use minutes to call them, are on hold forever, then talk to "Jane", who has an unusual accent for someone named Jane. Charged 85 minutes for a 411 call when stranded in Utah with a flat tire. That's over $20 folks. Ran out of minutes. None of my friends have been able to leave voicemail, despite adding 240 minutes (which lasted less than a week - and I probably was on the phone for less than an hour total). I'm done. Just got my landline today, and GOODBYE TRACFONE!!!

No tech support after they get your $$$

HELL ON EARTH. Posted problems get what seem to be BOT-Replies promising help from someone named TRACFONE(NAME). NO ONE EVER CONTACTS YOU AFTER THAT. When you try to respond and send a private message to the person listed as the support, an error message says 'you can't post, you don't have enough privileges). No Phone Numbers are posted to call. If you try to complain, your post never makes it to the public posting board because moderators have to OK them first before they are posted. Not one of my posts past the initial problem have ever made it to the public posting board

Help accessibility standards low..

Trying to get help with any situation concerning TracPhon issues are extremly frustrating if you want to speak to a representative. Once getting patched through to Tech support the waiting time is horrible. After waiting 55min I finally hung up.
Again VERY FRUSTRATING!!!Also I already had 1335 min and had to buy more due to my time ending.. TracPhon should allow min to get just so high and allow there to be no time limit on when service ends.

I have tracfone and have had the same one for over 4 yrs.I bought a double your minute card that doubles my minutes everytime I had them.I love my phone...

The Tracfone works for phone calls and calls with big numbers visible, BUT it always deletes all my minutes by accidently going to the internnet when I don't want it too, this is terribly frustrating and is obviously built into the design to get users to use up their cheap minutes quickly and buy more

Tracfone's are bought to have a phone that can't be traced, that's it. they do not offer high quality cell phone service, and customer service is non existent.
