Maytag MVWC400XW Reviews
Shakes the house when spinning.
Clothes tangled up when finished.
I have never had a machine do this with most loads even with careful distribution around the center. Clothes get clean, but sheets and towels are all wound up together. Shakes the house even tho machine is on rubber isolation pads. This washer was in the house we purchased a year ago.Worst "washer" ever!Even a rock would washer better.
I load only small washes because I know that there is very little water used in each wash. Every dark wash I do has chalky white marks because the machine just doesn't calculate the correct water levels. It isn't as noticible with light or white colors. I have changed detergents, now using tide pods, use the Downy softener ball and even toss clothes in the dryer and yet the clothes are NOT CLEAN. They go into the machine a little dirty and come out looking very dirty! I have gone as far as soaking my already washed clothes in the tub, only to find the tub filled with leftover detergent from the "washed" clothes. This machine, and other Centennial washers, are NOT ENERGY SAVERS. If I have to use 2x the water, electricity and time and still my clothes aren't clean, then this machine is a hot mess. DO NOT BUY MAYTAG CENTENNALS. I am not the only person with this complaint. There's a class action lawsuit for a similar model The defective part will cost $200+ with repair. It regulates the water flow. Maytag should offer free replacement in a recall. Google this model, you will see.Maytag says you are on your own with this problem.WASHER MVWC400XW0
As with everyone else. LOUD abnormal grinding noise. will not spin, does not clean clothes. Biggest waste of money ever. Do not buy these products. Maytag does not stand behind their products.Washer does not wash the entire garment
when washer completes all the washing cycles, some portions of the garments don't even get wet. this is the worse produce I have ever bought.Worst washer we have ever owned!
We had only had this washer for 10 months when it began to eat the clothes, towels, etc. and wouldn't spin out properly. Still under warranty, Maytag sent IAM Appliance Service who had to replace the sump top, agitator, AND spin basket. Now, less than 90 days later, we have the SAME problems. Called IAM and they said, "sorry they only guarantee their repairs 60 days" (it is nearly 90 days later now) so I contacted Maytag. They informed me the best they can do is give us the parts to fix this again ONLY if we use IAM repair service again and we have to pay for labor!MVC400XW0 Review at 1 year 1 month
BROKE. Will not spin at all. Still washes ok but clothes are SOAKED. Will not spin even on Spin & Drain cycle. Called Support and all they can do is schedule a Tech support visit which will cost about $190 w/labor because the techs usually do not have the parts on them to fix this issue and will require 2 visits to fix. Will not tell me WHAT parts I need so that I can order them ahead of time and just pay for one visit instead of 2.Maytag MVWC400XW Washing Machine
Once you push the start button, the lid locks as a safety feature. You also use the start button to pause or stop the machine. The lid is supposed to unlock after you have pressed down the start button for a mere 3 seconds. That doesn't happen. It stays locked for varying lengths of time. Yesterday, I had some clothes in the washer with the lid up. I wasn't ready to start the washer yet. I heard the washer later. It had started with the lid up. I couldn't turn it off. I finally unplugged it hoping to reset it. That didn't help either. This machine is designed to save water. The clothes don't really get clean. More water would make a difference, I'm sure. I would not recommend this washer. We have had ours 1.5 years. I don't know how much it will cost to repair. Don't know if it would be worth it either.
extremely noisy or broken
I just got a new Maytag MVWC400XW3 delivered yesterday (4/24/2012). It makes a horrible grinding noise in the wash and rinse cycles that I can hear clear across the house -- even through the closed solid wood laundry room door. Had a repair man out today and he says it's normal. We don't believe him, it's too horrible a noise to be normal. If it is normal and you value your ears - don't buy this machine.Bought a Maytag Centennial Washer MODMVWC400XWO last year. It is the worst product I have ever owned. Magtag name used to mean something. Now it means trouble, trouble and more trouble. Washer mangles and tears clothes, leaves soap stains on dark clothing because it does not rinse well (I use Tide HC low suds soap)and every wash load is a disappointment. Lock feature unnecessary and inconvenient. Do not buy Maytag products - you will regret it. I am going to count this as an expensive loss and replace it.
