2001 TOYOTA COROLLA 1.8L EFI DOHC 4CYL.

The 2001 TOYOTA COROLLA, is a good car for its price range, however the car has a lot of issues down the road that most car owners of other makes do not have. the rack and pinion is prone to leaks on the seal. the catalytic converter seal goes bad with no cause to it. if you drive fast the seal on the engine and transmission goes bad. the shift linkage goes bad fairly quickly. its very difficult to get air out of the brake lines(YES THEY ARE CLEAN). the car is built to be a small A TO B VEHICLE. anything more than that and the vehicle wants to break. there is no having fun in a 01 corolla. the parts look cheap and do not last long and when i call to get troubleshooting instructions the service people cant help me because the car is 14 years old. i am a mechanic and a lot of people speculate on whether or not its worth fixing. but i like the vehicles size and the way it drives. it drives well, it stops on a dime. it has horrible manufacturing of body and frame strength. 9 out of 10 accidents total the vehicle, not severe accidents. normal medium accidents. the car accelerates generally well, and it has some speed. its not a car for a speed demon, and its not a car for your grandmother that can barely see. no disrespect in that last comment. people generally like the car but wish they could get more help with the vehicle. the interior of the car is not bad. i wish toyota would give me my money back for the car. i personally would not choose an older toyota corolla, ive had 4 from 2001, and they all broke with similar or the same issues. the newer toyota vehicles on the other hand are very nice. very well made. and worth the cost. they have greatly improved on their vehicle durability.
