2006 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab

I own a Toyota Tacoma Access Cab 2006 model. I have an Automatic Trans. 4 cyl. engine. I Love my Tacoma, it rides like a luxury car. I have just passed the 50K mile mark and it still looks and runs like it is brand new. I just took it on it's first long run from Fresno,CA to Manhattan,KS. We went south and through Las Vegas and headed East through Colorado and over the Rocky Mountains. The engine and the truck seemed to handle the 13,000 foot climb in elevation with ease. I also had the bed with camper shell packed full of my daughters belongings which added weight to the climb. All was well.

The only things I have had to do with my truck is just change the oil every 3,000 miles. It has had all recall issues dealt with. I only just recently had my first issue with the truck and that is with the tire pressure monitoring system. The amber light for that just started blinking continuously and the service department said that I had a bad sensor and replaced it. The amber light continued to blink after I left the service dept. I found out from my neighborhood tire dealer that the internal batteries last approximately 5 to 6 years and it being 2013 sounded logical to me. He actually had a black box that he placed up next to the tire and told him that none of the sensors were emitting a signal. These little creatures will run you from $30 each to $80 each, and don't listen to the auto parts sites you will need a set of 5. 1 for the spare tire. If you are at the point of where you are ready to buy new tires and it has been over 5 years. I would suggest having them replaced at that time, don't wait like me and right after you just put on new tires you are having to pay to just take them off and back on again and you know how expensive shop labor is.

I was told you could not bypass that system and I was told wrong, if you are at that point now and hate the idea of having the sensors tell you when you need air here is a great article on how to bypass that. For those of you who like the newer model Tacomas and want to have a touch screen monitor, DVD player, back-up camera, and Bluetooth thru your radio. That was my latest project and I just finished installing a BOSS Audio BV9364BI
