Good machine, lousy operating system

I purchased an acer 7735G for my wife, and found it to be a good all rounder for the money. we're having a bit of trouble with the battery charger, when the machine is left idle and closed, the battery runs down, and it has to be connected to ac power before it will start again. The only problem I have with it is the Vista operating system.
