Broken on delivery

This is a huge capacity top load washer with great features. We are replacing a GE Washer that is 8 years old. We did a lot of research on washers this go round as we expected the high end GE Profile Washer we were replacing to last longer than 8 years. We were not inclined to purchase another GE Washer but the sales team talked us into it. We do like the look and features of this washer. The Smart Dispenser is probably at the top of the list. That will make very easy to use this thing. HOWEVER 1) SmartDispense would not function upon the first use. The tank level doesn't register and the detergent button doesn't work. 2) The wrong user manual came with the Washer. Not a big deal found the correct one online. But makes a quality statement. 3) Called GE Answer Center for assistance and all they did is read me manual - really no help at all. Really wanted to ensure that I was reading the manual correctly and that we had done everything we could to correct the issue. I then called the kitchen and bath specialty store where we purchased the washer and they were not surprised by the lack of help we got at the Answer Center. Why didn't they tell me about this before the purchase? 4) Called for GE Service and it's over a week to get a service tech to come look at it. So, I have a washer with full tanks of detergent and softener and 1.5 weeks before it can be looked at. Using it in manual mode now - and initial impression is that it does clean well. It's the quality and the post sales service response that really causes this to take a scoring hit.
