5 yr old unit went up in a puff of smoke with an odor similar to rubber burning

Had heated frozen veggies using the microwave of the microwave/convection oven, closed the door walked away and heard the sound of the convection running. After setting the hot dish down I saw a puff of smoke and the control panel went black. Scary that it turned on and burned out on its own.
