Water Pan needs emptying

Although it is advertised that the this unit does not need the water pan emptied while using it on cool mode that has not been our experience. We have found that the water pan full indicator comes on and the AC shuts down at least twice every day we use it. Maybe this unit is defective but I have not tried another one. This is very frustrating since the amount of water that needs to be drained is not more than 8 oz.
