Haier ESA412J Reviews
ESA411J window unit A.C.
Pretty good. Bought it because I couldn't see cranking up the heat pump to cool this huge house just for 1 person. It performed pretty well for the first heat season & I loved the unit.
This year it began leaking PUDDLES of water into my home even though the unit is CLEARLY and obviously tilted downwards on the exterior of my home to drain the condensation.
In fact, the 1st 3 months into the heat season the unit drained perfectly into a large bucket I'd placed underneath it on the exterior of my home. In August I began having the problem with LARGE puddles accumulating in my home.
The users manual only says the unit should be tilted downward (which it IS & can't be tilted any further without damaging my window). The users manual further says to NOT drill a hole in the exterior of the cabinet so as to drain it so that option is out.
I'm at wits end as to what to do.
Had to send an email to Haier for a solution. I was told I would receive a reponse immediately - in two days (which I do not consider immediate).
This unit is supposed to have an Energy Star rating but my power bill - even though I have NOT turned on my heat pump at ALL - was higher than it's EVER been in the 37 years I've lived here. I DID purchase a new dishwasher this summer so m-a-y-b-e that had some bearing on the power consumption but unsure about that as I had a dishwasher prior to the new one I just purchased.
But the remote control, energy saver feature, timer, fan speeds etc are all excellent features and very convenient.
If it wasn't for the water problem - which is a REAL problem - I'd give this A/C 5 stars.
BEFORE this problem cropped up I've been pleased enough with Haier to purchase 2 other units (a very small window unit for my office and a portable one for the back of the house to use if I happen to be back there long enough to need cooling).
