Motor burn out on first use!

I had a Hamilton Beach blender for YEARS before I purchased this one. It had cost me $20 at a Christmas sale and gave me years of great use. But the jar was plastic and cloudy from use and the on/off button broke with normal wear. So I bought this one. Bonus, a glass jar so it wouldn't scratch. But within the first time using it, the motor burned out! Smoke actually came from the unit. I unplugged it quickly. I still had the box and the manual, but it says shipping costs are MY responsibility. It will cost me more to ship it than to buy another one, and I don't WANT this particular model again! Will be switching brands. Very disappointed. Shame on you for making an inferior product during these tough times!
