JVC HD-56G787 Reviews
My review of the JVC HD-ILA 56G787 Television.
I purchased this television in December of 2006. It is now only 4.5 years old. We were sold on this television as it seemed to be a great value with the stand for $1850. The picture was escellent and crip. The salesman did a decent job of advising me that the television would need a lamp replacement approximately every 3500 hours.Ok....I have had to replace the lamp in this TV 5 times in 4.5 years. That is unacceptable. The actual JVC lamp costs $199.00 if ordered directly on the internet through JVC....add shipping your up to $220. Tried the aftermarket lamps for a lower a price $125.00 for Osram and $ 185.00 for a Phillips lamp. I had to take the Osram back as the light output was weak. The Phillips light seemed to do the job.
I have just recently had problems with a dark picture that I cannot get enough brightness for acceptable viewing during the day and not much better with a dark atmosphere. The screen has a dark shadow in the upper middle part of the screen. I have cleaned the inside of this TV thoroughly hoping to bring it back to a viewable state. A JVC technician said all symptons point toward a bad Optical Or Light Engine. The cost to replace this ....Part/$1300.oo
....Labor/$300.oo
I have never owned a television that didnt give me at least 8 years and some that lasted 15.
I called the JVC customer service and of course they advised me that I did not buy an extended warranty....nothing the can do. I did press the issure that 4.5 years lifetime of there product was a disgrace and my research indicated this problem to be rampant. $2000 4 yr old television headed to the graveyard...SAD SAD!
