Purchased a kitchen aid microwave architect series II KCMS1555SSS 1.5 Cu. ft. capacity mid-size Microwave. 1200 watts in stainless steel. I paid $426.48 for it. It stopped working after 4.5 months of use. No, we did not put foil in the microwave. It just stopped in the middle of cooking a lean cuisine. I opened the door and a foul smelling chemical odor with a puff of smoke wafted out. I called customer service who connected me the repair service "A&E Factory Service" . A tech came out and said I needed three new parts. After receiving the parts, I had to schedule a second appt.. The day of the appointment A&E Factory Service called to say they had to cancel because it required two technicians to complete the work and two were not available. I called back and explained the microwave was portable and it only needed one tech to replace the parts. They said the appt had already been cancelled and I had to reschedule. I rescheduled for the second time. Guess what? they called the morning of the appt saying they had to reschedule because they needed two techs to do the job. I AGAIN explained it was a portable unit and only one tech was needed, they said the appt had been cancelled and they needed to reschedule. I have called off twice from work to be at home to let the repair service people in and twice they have cancelled. According to kitchen aid customer service, they only have regular business hours and don't work on holidays...oh, and they can only come out on M,W,F. I've been on the phone three times with kitchen aid service, they are not helpful, nor do they seem to care that a product they are selling (and not an inexpensive one at that) is defective. I have explained to them that I have called off work twice to accommodate the repairs and both appointments by A&E factory service were cancelled. I explained to kitchen aid customer service that I can't call off work for a third time, but this falls on deaf ears, as no real solution was offered, just another appointment which will probably be cancelled by A&E for the THIRD time. I will NEVER purchase from Kitchen Aid again, and I will let it be known to anyone who inquiries about buying a kitchen aid product to steer clear of this Company. Bottom line--a bad product and horrible customer service.
