Marantz VC4400 DVD/CD player

I purchased this unit used and blind because I couldn't find a review for it anywhere on the internet so here's one for the person that's looking to buy one and wanting a review so they know what to expect. Well first off it's a Marantz and you can never go wrong with Marantz! I absolutely love this DVD unit! I have a Marantz receiver so it's a perfect match being my receiver has all the decoder's already in it and available for this DVD unit. I hooked the DVD Player up using the optical drive and turned it on and it sounded really good then I went a little further and hooked up the cables for audio and video to my TV & there's a whole nother setup menu that comes up on the TV screen, I went into this menu and setup my DVD Player even further and it unlocked a whole nother level of digital/optical audio output that is absolutely amazing for the sound of this player!! I can crank the volume up and have crystal clear audio output that will not make the player skip at all like my last cd player before I even reached 0 decibels and let me tell you what this player is so clean, clear and loud that 0 decibels is incredibly loud and I haven't even tried to turn it up any louder than that and my receiver will allow me to turn it up to 9+ decibels but I can't do it because at 0 decibels things start flying off the walls and it actually bounced my polk audio center channel speaker right off the shelf so that to me is most impressive!! Ok now the video part of this unit, with having this unit setup in the optical mode running the RCA cables into my flatscreen TV when you put in a movie it opens my receiver up into the total optical digital mode of the surround sound and it is so very incredibly clear, clean and loud! You can be watching your movie and the sound effects of different things like gunshots for instance will bring you right off of the couch with clearance between your butt and the couch!! It's absolutely awesome and amazing to say the least!! This is the first Stereo Audio DVD player I've owned and as awesome as it is I'm hoping it's going to be my last because I can't give enough praise for this unit for perfect pixels and the perfection of audio it puts out!! Ok so I only gave it 4 stars and my only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because when listening to CD's the unit will play the first CD then it stops instead of automatically changing to the second, third, fourth and fifth CD's. You have to use the remote to switch to the next CD or use the button on the unit. From what I've read about other Marantz CD players you can't open the player and change the disc's while listening to a CD, they stop playing and then open to change the disc's but this unit has the option to change disc's while one continues to play and I like this!! If it wasn't for the unit stopping at the end of each CD I would easily have given this unit a 6 out of 5 stars because I like it that much!!! If you're looking for a DVD/CD Player that's going to give you the true optical full blown surround sound experience THIS is the unit you have been looking for without any doubt!!! I'm most grateful I purchased this VC4400 unit and didn't let it get away because it totally completed my Audio expectations and experience of top notch Marantz Performance and Sound!!!
