After 5 years, already having control panel issues
After 5 years of working well, this fridge recently started having issues with the display flashing, the ice/water dispenser not working, and the ice door flapping open and shut every 3 seconds. I have researched this and found many customers complaining of Maytag refrigerators with the same problem. Some models have been recalled, though not all, and not this one. When I called customer service, I was told my fridge is not part of the recall and therefore I have to pay to have it fixed. It upsets me that Maytag clearly knows that many of its refrigerators have faulty control boards--not just those recalled--and yet expects many of its customers to pay to fix a faulty product. When I bought the Maytag, I chose the name because I thought it would be a reliable product and that the company would stand behind it, but obviously that is not the case. In my mind, such an expensive appliance should last longer than 5 years without needing an expensive repair. I'm very disappointed in my purchase as well as the company's response to myself and other customers with this same issue.
