Maytag refrigerator MSD2272VES01-Flimsy shelves

The shelves on this refrigerator are so poorly designed that they cannot support much weight. Replacement costs for a new 17" plastic framed plexiglass shelf is $89.each. The plastic is thin, while the plexiglass is heavy causing them to break easily. After having to replace every shelf in the past 2 years, I have come to the conclusion that they are purposely designed to require replacement. Solid plexiglass or wire shelves would be far more durable.
