McAfee Total Protection 2007 : something to consider?
McAfee Total Protection 2007 is a complete protection solution that offers many functionalities and custom parameters so that you can adapt the protection it offers to your needs.The customer service is relatively good, the persons I contacted during my subscription were knowing their product.
The downside is that it slows down your computer a lot (approximately 15 seconds more for my computer to start).
In addition to slowing down your computer, it demands a lot of computer's ressources and is not cost effective for the environment (demands a lot of electricity, and in some cases, can cause overheat with laptops when performing deep scans). The real-time protection can drain a lot of battery, and that is definitely something to consider.
Also, it does not offer the best protection on the market as it did not protected me from many viruses that my Microsoft Security Essentials did.
Finally, you may be better staying with the protection that Microsoft offers freely with your Windows, as it is better in some situations and don't slows down your computer as McAfee Antivirus would. Though, if you are looking for a more complete solution, McAfee Total Protection is something that may be to consider.
