Don't buy this 1080sw camera if you plan to use it underwater.

This is a fine camera for taking pictures above water. My first attempt at underwater shooting (just barely underwater) was when I was snorkeling in Akumal Mexico. The deepest the camera ever got was about the length of my arms, maybe 3 feet deep. After getting some fantastic shots over a few days of shooting the carmea locked up and all the files were gone. I had followed all the instructions on cleaning and care. By the way, Olympus replaced my original camera at no charge. But it failed again under similar underwater shooting conditions. This time the camera recovered after a time by itself. Since then I've been using it now for a few years only as an above water camera and it works fine. Too bad they sold me on the high price of this camera based on it being good for shooting underwater down to 33 feet. I've been contacted by a law firm and signed up for a class action lawsuit against Olympus concerning the failure to meet the underwater specs. I'm now looking at Fujifilm's 2012 release of an xp100 underwater camera. But I've not seen any "user reviews" of this camera yet.
