Polaroid GL10 Reviews

Poor poor poor!
I bought this product for work as a great way to print up digital photos which look like like the original Polaroid instant camera prints - and I don't know where to start when it comes to listing the faults . . .1. The product arrives, and yes its got nice packaging and the build quality of the actual printer is quite good. But it doesn't come with the printer soft wear so you have to trawl the Polaroid website for it. After about 30 minutes, I finally find the soft wear on the Polaroid Australia site - not the UK one as you'd expect. The Polaroid website is not user friendly either.
2. When you finally download in install the soft wear for the GL10 all the problems begin. If you can get the print app to stay open on your computer with out crashing, well done! I've got a brand new mac book pro with the latest soft wear and all the bell and whistles, so you'd expect no problem with new programs running.
3. So the Polaroid GL10 app is finally open, but you can't edit the photos to fit the print size because you can not see the whole print screen. So when you send something to the printer it's a guessing game if it will come out portrait or landscape, with or with out a head!
4. There are some novelty frames to put around the photos from a retro looking classic Polaroid print frame to love hearts and distorted edges. These worked kinda ok for a few prints, but now they have completely stopped working. When ever I try to attach a template I get a box pop up with . . . 'Template format is wrong! Please check template' Errr, Polaroid (And Lady Gaga's Haus of Gaga) these are your templates, you should make sure they are the right format for your printer!
5. So if you do manage to edit you photo in the Polaroid app, you'd want to save it. So you'd click the save option and expect it to do so. Not here! Usually when you click the save button, nothing happens or the program crashes and you have to restart it which results in loosing everything.
6. I've tried looking on the Polaroid website for help with these problems, or an update for the soft wear - but alas, there is nothing! I'm in the UK and when you go to the Polaroid site looking for help there pretty much nothing, just a phone number and email address ([email protected]) I've raised my problem with them, and I'm still awaiting a reply. The customer care provided by Polaroid in almost non-existent .
7. And when you get the printer to work, the prints are poor quality - expected from the classic Polaroid camera of old, but in the digital age!? I think not!
So I could moan on an on about more problems with this new GL10 printer, but I won't. In principle, it's a good idea and very novel. In reality, it has been poorly executed when it comes to the practical usage, and it seem more money has been poured into getting the Haus of Gaga to sign a deal to promote it. It seems Polaroid are trying to reinvent themselves for the digital age, but have saturated the market with poor quality inferior electronic goods, which will only have a detrimental impact on their brand.
Also, I don't know where the 4-5 star reviews for this are coming from, but don't believe the hype!
So, big thumbs down - sort yourselves out Polaroid!
