Controller Board Problems

I installed a CMH3172 Split System unit in Aug. 1978 for a customer. Since then it has gone through 3 outside unit control boards, 1 inside unit control board, and 3 thermister failures. Today, March 23 2014, a fourth control board has failed. Several years ago, Panasonic took over the Sanyo Split System company, as it was slowly sinking due to componet failure and customer dissatisfaction of too high maintenance costs. I will never install another split system again..what a nightmare. Too complex...too many problems.
