Sharp ER-A420 Reviews
nextledge.... October 30th, 2011
A good choice for a small restaurant
I program sharp cash registers for a living and with the cover of the Internet; I can really say what I think about a particular model. Most models are a good design and easy to program after they have been set up.The ER-A420 is a nice cash register. My company has sold lots and lots of them and has seen very few problems. Well-designed and heavy duty as with most ER series registers.
You can interface this register to a scanner, a scale and a kitchen chit printer.
Limitations:
You just need to be aware that this model cannot be have any additional memory put in it. You are limited to 1500 PLU's, which is fine if all your selling is items that you have on the keyboard. There are also only 20 cashiers available. And your keyboard is basically limited to 82 different items with the rest of the room taken up by special feature keys.
The model higher than the 420 is the ER-A530. It has a lot more features and holds a lot more PLU's. The only reasons why you would upgrade from a 420 to a 530 is if:
·You are running a scanning system where you have lots of UPC's.
·If you are running any sort of table service
·Advance feature like grouping, linking, tips and condiments
·You want the printer to take bigger paper
Otherwise, why pay for features that you are not going to use. If the salesman s honest with you and understands your needs then you should know that you made the right choice. By the way...the ER-A410 offers the same features with a raised keyboard.
