Does the job for a basic home machine

I bought this computer in 2011 from Walmart for $499.99. It did the job for me for over 2 years and I finally upgraded to a hp touchsmart computer. I use the emachine now for a second computer. I decided I wanted to upgrade the emachine and am finding it very difficult to do with the super small case it has. The biggest power supply I can find that fits in the case is a 250W, the only available pciex16 slot is way at the top of the motherboard. This means even a low profile graphics card will not fit unless a section of the top of the case is cut away. This is only one issue with upgrading the graphics card though. The other issue is the bracket is wider than the case is wide meaning a section has to be cut out of the case for that too. As far as the power supply goes I am getting a big 550w power supply and running it outside the box. My only other option is to get a new case for it and try rebuilding it, which I have never done before. All and all this is a pretty good computer, not for gaming though. Video processing is decent. I get a max of 190fps xvid and h264 encoding, audio is good and very rarely have I had problems with lag or freezing. Never a blue screen of death either. I would recommend this only for basic computing.
