Bad Rap. Install Windows 7
Although this computer has received less than desirable reviews, I must say I enjoy using it. A fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit, and Tuneup Utilities 2010, whipped this baby right into shape. If people would take the time to defrag their registry and hard-drive, clean up temporary internet files, turn to manual unnecessary services, turn off certain visual effects, etc, they could make a 10 year old computer run well. This particular computer has a "lower-end" AMD Turion dual-core, and what I consider to be rather abysmal screen resolution for it's size. However, 2-Hard-Drive bays, ram expansion to 8GBs, and 256MB of video ram help in the Pro dept. Other than the a-fore mentioned resolution, the only other complaint I have with this unit is the CPU temperature does get pretty high when watching video and playing games. I have researched this issue, and found that the processor has been known to run at 115 degrees C for periods of over 500 hours. The fact that I never get it over 80C leaves me much less paranoid about overheating.
In conclusion, I believe the poor reviews are a result of many individuals lack of computer maintenance, and knowledge of computers in general.
