every ok til disc error what does than mean do i have to buy a new dvd

i'v been very pleased with this product. i got it 2 yrs ago for x-mas. til three days ago when i put a disc in and it said disc error. i thought the lenz was dirty so i bought a cleaner i can't even get that to play, but cleaned the one in the twins room fine. if their is an easy fix awesome! if not bummer i'll have to buy a new dvd player.
