Whirlpool ET1CHEXVB Reviews
Three years and Kaput
July 2009 - September 2012 RIPFridge was really good till it stopped cooling. No service available for 10 days, so warranty company refunded purchase price.
Three years life for a fridge - you gotta be kidding -
No more Whirlpool for me!!!
I realize we should have gotten an extended warranty on our Whirlpool refrigerator (Model #ET1CHEXVT01, Serial #EW4016207) which we purchased from Lowe's of Lexington, NC on November 13, 2008. After the repairman worked on it for 2 days he found out that there is a wire broken in the refrigerator cabinet (a neutral wire open), and he cannot get into the fridge to repair it which means we have to junk the fridge and shop for another one immediately (it looks brand new - we have taken good care of it.) Now I don't know whether to put my confidence in Whirlpool again - I am very disappointed. (We also purchased a stove from Whirlpool several years ago.) Whatever happened to "quality control"? Nothing is made to last any more. Our first refrigerator lasted 35 years, by the way, and we have an old one in the basement that is 15-20 years old. How many people have that much money to just throw away. We certainly don't! I guess when you don't have an extended warranty you don't stand behind your product. There used to be "lemon laws" for cars - why not for appliances?
