Main Menu can't display videos or play music from firefox linux or windows
The file browser launched from firefox will start a linux app, VLC player in my case, which displays a video or plays music. However, firefox http://192.168.1.5/r49397,/desktop,/ using the PHOTO or MUSIC icons will not display anything. But PHOTO and SLIDESHOW work. The user guide is of little help in resolving the issue. Using firmware 11. Added firefox plugins and the like: no effect. Initially, I installed the NAS326 in the bedroom, next to the router. It blinks constantly from the front panel and constantly from the RJ45 socket on the back panel. The fan runs constantly and it is noisy. It sounds like the disk is hammering constantly, but because ofthe fan noise, I can't be sure of that. So far, the NAS326 is not better than a Raspberry Pi running linux with FTP daemon. The case looks well, and the ext4 file system is familiar. There are lots of things to like about the NAS326, the hardware is OK. The software is a first draft. My experience with dumping files on the HDD is from WINSCP, wine launch in linux, and this works well enough to populate NAS326 directories using ethernet or wifi. The USB 3.0 interface for dumping files is clumsy at best, and more work. In the end, a USB copy still needs repair after the fact, using for example WINSCP to move and rename directories.
