I purchased this Lexmark X2600 a year ago, granted it WAS one of the less expensive models. The first problems I had was that I would turn it off and it would kick back on, all by itself, a little later. This was no problem. I purchased the 14"A" and 15"A" cartridges so that I could refill them, as well as Lexmark compatible ink. I refilled the cartridges once and they worked fine. When they were empty, I refilled again. The black works great. The color is giving me problems - "not compatible" and "no ink cartridge installed" errors as well as the "you are out of ink - order more overpriced crap from Lexmark" notices. Now the printer suddenly wouldn't work at all, so I ended up reinstalling the software. The "Service Center" wouldn't install and the "Alignment page" won't print which means, it won't print anything. But I guess that's ok. It was printing in "magenta" only when I just refilled it completely.
I really haven't used this printer that much. I had an HP printer before this one (paid a little less for it too) and had it for over 5 years, using it a whole lot more than this one, AND refilling non-refillable cartridges many times until it finally just wore out.
I was going to call customer support until I read this site. I have a prepaid cell phone and I REFUSE to waste my minutes on people that I can't understand/ can't fix the problem.
I am now going to shop for an HP printer. I miss having a reliable printer. This is the LAST Lexmark product I will EVER buy!
