Junk Machine

Same problem as everyone else - camshaft melted after a few hours of use. They were only prepared to sell me a new head at £100.
This junk is now at the refuse tip.
Never again - terrible service.

Ryobi x430 model RY34000

mine seized up after 1 season. This model has a plastic camshaft and there is no replacing this part. The engine does have a 3 year warranty..but I lost my sales slip! so NO coverage. There is hope if find yourself in this spot like me. The cam will drive out pushing it towards the cam gear. I used a small phillips head screw driver and a small hammer. After removing the inner steel shaft from the plastic cam,use emory cloth and buff the steel shaft on both ends where it rides against the case, lube with oil and reassemble. make sure your timing mark is down and the piston is at the top of its stroke. good luck...and hang on to your sales slip!

Good Idea, BUT . . .

Purchased in May '10 since it is a 4 cyle with no oil/gas mixing.

TY3400 worked great out of box with my string timmer all summer '10. Starting in winter '10 became hard to start and after use with tree trimmer would die when gas tank about 1/2 empty and would not restart for about an hour with multiple pulls to keep running.

In summer '11, Service tech adjusted carb and said the unit was not adjusted to run on ethanol containing gas. But still will not run more than half tank of gas without stalling and will not stay started.

'currently looking for new unit to run tree trimmer this winter.

This is piece of junk--DO NOT BUY

Great out of the box, but...

Performed exactly as advertised for about three months, then suddenly started stalling every time the clutch was engaged. Had it serviced; found out that the air mix had slipped. $50 to get it back running. Ran another 3 months, then did the same thing. Tried to adjust the air mix myself and found that it requires a special tool. Unfortunately, Ryobi refuses to sell the tool. So, unless you want to pay $200 a year to keep your $200 string trimmer running, I suggest you find another product.

RY34000 POS

Starts fine, but stalls when you try to give it the gas. Requires maintenance on a monthly basis to keep the throttle adjusted properly.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

I purchased a ryobi RY34000 powerhead and was completely disapointed with this product, 2 months after buying it, the carbureator broke, guess what, not covered by warranty! had to pay 35 dlls for a new carb plus labor to install it. Two months after that it has no power, took it to be inspected and the the camshaft is broken, this piece is made out of plastic by the way! tryed to get a replacement for it and they only sell the complete short block assembly for 100 dlls! ridiculous, last time I am buying a Ryoby product, stay away from this!
